A Change in Plastics

fl08_782p

Garbage cans around the Region of Peel can now breathe a sigh of relief. The Region of Peel Waste Management has just widely expanded the list of items that can be recycled through the Blue Box program.

Now for the first time the Regional Waste Facility will be collecting all kitchen container plastics including clam shell containers used for fruits, vegetables and bakery products, clear plastic tubs and other clear plastic packaging.  Also included for the first time are prescription bottles, single serving yogurt and pudding containers and horticultural containers including plant trays, plastic flower pots etc..

This is great news for residents of Peel as these bulky items have been taking up far too much space in our garbage and landfills for far too long.

For more information on what should or should not be included in each waste stream—- garbage, recyclables, and compostables— please visit www.wheredoesitgo.ca
